ABOUT NITTY'S

Nitty's Cider started in 2018 when master Nitty decided to venture out on his own and make a cider for the thirsty masses. His passion for making cider began shortly after he graduated from the University of Oregon, when he began an apprenticeship in a local cider company. From those humble beginnings, he graduated to the level of Master Cider Maker and he now delivers what his faithful followers consider to be one of the best ciders in all the land.

HISTORY OF CIDER & FUN FACTS:

  • CIDER WAS THE PREFERRED ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE DURING COLONIAL TIMES

  • JOHN ADAMS ENJOYED A GLASS OF CIDER FOR BREAKFAST EACH MORNING

  • IN THE 1800’S PEOPLE PLANTED APPLE TREES TO MAKE CIDER, NOT TO EAT APPLES

  • CIDER GREW EXTREMELY POPULAR DURING THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN OF 1840 WHEN WILLIAM HARRISON USED IT TO RELATE TO THE WORKING CLASS

  • CIDER GREW LESS POPULAR DURING THE WESTWARD MOVEMENT OF AMERICA, AND THE MIGRATION OF GERMANS TO AMERICA, HENCE BEER TO THE PEOPLE.

  • CIDER HIT ITS END IN AMERICA DURING THE PROHIBITION, UNTIL IT WAS BROUGHT BACK IN THE 1990’S WITH THE ARRIVAL OF MICROBREWERIES, CREATING A BUZZ FOR SMALL CRAFT BREWS AND CIDERS.
